Very good to all our #Madamegrowers!! We return with a very interesting post: What do I need to grow an indoor crop?
Normally when we are thinking about setting up a grow tent, we are supposed to have some experience with setting up a grow. But at Madamegrow we have made a guide so that you don’t have any questions about growing indoors.
This post has an objective that our growers have the necessary materials and an optimal cultivation space for indoor cultivation.
MARIJUANA GROWING LOCATION – THE FIRST THING TO DO
Before rushing in and starting to buy the necessary materials for an extraction system or for LED lighting, for example, we must locate where we are going to set up an indoor crop. The grow space could be an open room or grow tent. In this decision, the initial investment for indoor cultivation can vary a lot.
The most important thing to keep in mind is the growing space, it must be comfortable to be able to work with the plants and different materials. In addition, we must know where to place the tubes for the entry and exit of the air, to control the temperature and humidity.
What do I need to do an INDOOR GROW?
It is preferable to make a small shopping list, than to go crazy buying materials. At Madamegrow we have made you a small list with the necessary materials for your crop, from the growth phase to the end of the cycle.
We also inform you of the benefits of indoor cultivation for marijuana.
SHOPPING LIST:
- Grow tent or reflective paper.
- LED lighting equipment designed for cannabis cultivation.
- Extractor to remove stale air and promote optimal air circulation (an extractor).
- Intractor to bring in new and fresh air.
- Odor filter according to the power of the extractor.
- Fan to move the air inside the crop.
- Timer to control the on and off of the spotlight.
- Thermo-hygrometer to know the temperature and humidity.
- 10 m section of pipe for extraction and intraction.
- 100% organic fertilizers.
Outside of this shopping list we can highlight the occasional tool such as duct tape or screwdrivers.
Description of materials FOR INDOOR GROWING
Below we describe the main materials that you have to buy to set up the indoor crop:
1- GROW SHELTERS OR REFLECTIVE PAPER
The objective of growing marijuana indoors is that during the night the plants do not receive any light. For this, reflective paper for indoor is necessary. In the event that you use a cabinet designed for cultivation, you should not worry about anything, since it will be totally sealed and not a ray of light will enter or leave.
2- FOCUS OR LIGHTING EQUIPMENT
Lighting equipment is one of the essential products for setting up indoor cannabis cultivation. It fulfills the function that plants carry out photosynthesis efficiently, causing optimal growth and flowering.
There are different types of lighting but the main difference is the money we want to invest, and the power of the same focus. Since an expense with a 250W HPS bulb is not the same as if we grow with a 600W HPS bulb.
Once we have decided where we are going to grow and the space we have, it is time to buy the focus that best suits our needs. That is why we are going to show you, dear #Madamegrowers, the power of the spotlights that are usually used to grow marijuana.
Type of bulb, power, average production and cultivation area:
HPS lighting:
- 250W, 150g, 80 x 80 cm cultivation area at 25-30 cm from the tips.
- 400W, 300g, 100 x 100cm cultivation area at 40-50cm from the tips.
- 600W, 450g, cultivation area 120 x 120 cm at 60-70 cm from the tips.
LED lighting:
- 100W, 80g, cultivation area 80 x 80 cm at 40-50 cm from the tips.
- 200W, 150g, cultivation area 100 x 100 cm at 40-50 cm from the tips.
- 400W, 350g, cultivation area 120 x 120 cm at 40-50 cm from the tips.
LEC lighting:
- 150W, 150g, cultivation area 80 x 80 cm at 20-30 cm from the tips.
- 315W, 315g, cultivation area 100 x 100 cm at 30-40 cm from the tips.
- 630W, 630g, cultivation area 150 x 150 cm at 40-50 cm from the tips.
3- AIR EXTRACTOR
Mainly it serves so that the extraction system of our indoor is of quality. Its function is to renew the air of the crop and expel the heat accumulated inside the cabinet.
When buying an extractor, the cubic meters of the growing area and the power of the lighting equipment to be used must be taken into account.
4- AIR INTRACTOR
This instrument is just as important as the extractor, we must bear in mind that if our extract is quite powerful, it will exert a negative pressure so that the air enters from the outside to the inside, without the need for intraction.
In the case of buying the intractor we must study well which one we really need. For this it is necessary to calculate the fourth part of the power in m3 of the extraction. For the intraction we will need a power in m3 of 468/4 = 117 m3/h. In this case, an intractor of 117 m3/h is needed.
5- ODOR FILTER
The main problem of an indoor grow is the smell of marijuana, this can cause a certain annoyance to a grumpy neighbor. This is why a marijuana odor filter is necessary.
To know what filter we need in our grow room or cabinet, we first have to be clear about the extractor we need. Once we know that the ideal extractor for our 120 x 120 x 200 cm cabinet is 468 m3/h, we only have to purchase a carbon filter with an opening size equal to that of the extractor and with a little more m3 .
6- EXTRACTION TUBE
If we install an extraction and intraction system, we are obliged to connect them by means of an aluminum tube, which is resistant and must not allow light to pass through. The tube has to be the same diameter as the mouth of the extraction or filtering systems that we have at home.
The tube must not have curves because this would cause a loss of air extraction power. This fact can cause odors not to be filtered and you may have some other problem with your neighbor.
7- FAN
If we had to choose one of the most important elements for indoor cultivation, it could be the fan. Without it, ventilation will not work effectively and this can affect the plant in different ways.
The breathing:
Without ventilation, plants do not maintain constant respiration, and without this air that moves and creates current in the plants, respiration is not activated.
The heat:
Ventilation is another way to disperse the heat generated by the lighting equipment, and it does not remain concentrated in one area of the crop.
8- TIMER
The timer is used so that we do not have to be aware that every day we have to turn the lights on or off. Since it is impossible to spend 3 months turning the light on and off.
9- THERMO-HYGROMETER
This instrument is used to measure the percentage of relative humidity and the temperature of the crop. It is quite important to control these factors so that the plants develop fully. In each phase of the plant, specific temperature and humidity values are needed.
10- ORGANIC FERTILIZERS
If we have in mind to carry out an organic cultivation of marijuana, it will be important to think of a range of 100% organic fertilizers, which meets the nutritional needs of our plants.
Organic marijuana fertilizers are free of toxins and heavy metals, so the result will be a harvest with a similar flavor and effects as if it were growing in nature. At Madamegrow we have a wide range to meet all the needs of your plant, from the growth phase to the end of the cycle.
