We welcome back all our #Madamegrower to a super interesting post. do you have auto seeds? In this post we show you how much light autoflowering strains need and have optimal vegetative growth.

What is the best light cycle for autoflowering plants?

This autoflowering cannabis strain has an age-dependent flowering phase, rather than depending on changes in the light cycle. Despite this, it is necessary to have as much light as possible for your cannabis plants and to get the best harvest possible.

LIGHT CYCLE 18/6

Next we are going to talk about grow lights, marijuana is a C3 plant, this means that it can absorb CO2 for photosynthesis. This is because autoflowering marijuana has short vegetative phases and grows less than photoperiod plants. As a general rule, it is advisable to provide a light cycle of at least 18 hours of light. In indoor crops, this number of hours allows for healthy growth. 6/18 light and dark.

24H LIGHT CYCLE

On the other hand, the occasional grower provides marijuana plants with a different amount of light. Like 24 hours of light, arguing that production increases with this schedule. On the other hand, the previous method, the 18/6 light cycle, allows autoflowering cultivars to have a rest in those hours of darkness and have a recovery time, which is very important for healthy growth.

No one can agree on whether autoflowering strains grow better in 18/6 light cycle or 24 hour light as we have seen great grows from expert growers with both methods.

IS THERE A 12/12 CYCLE OF LIGHT?

Indeed, there are marijuana growers who have that light cycle but in the flowering phase. The only downside there is probably to this method is that with a 12 hour light cycle, the buds are often smaller than with another growing method like 18 or 24 hour light. This method is usually applied in different situations:

  • When the plant has an excess of heat, this usually occurs in places where the climate is warm. Normally the lights are turned off during the day so that your crop does not get too hot. Therefore, this method of 12/12 turning on the lights at night will be your best option to avoid heat stress.
  • In a mixed culture between photoperiod and autoflowering strains.
  • In case you don’t want to make such a high power consumption for such a long time. If you have a limited budget, perhaps this light method is better for your cars.

THE SEA OF GREEN METHOD AND AUTOFLOWERING STRAINS

It is a different way to train your plants and obtain very good harvests. This technique consists in that instead of letting the plants grow to a great height, we must grow many small plants, all together forming a canopy that maximizes exposure to light and makes the most of the space.

This method is very common in the cultivation of autoflowering, because it takes advantage of the compact size that these seeds have naturally.

MARIJUANA LIGHTS

There are many types of marijuana lights on the market. Lighting is very important when growing any type of marijuana plant indoors, and in this bag I include autoflowering plants.

Because its life cycle is short, the recommendation is that we maximize the quality of light and fertilizer and of the soil that you provide to your plant.

Plants, which depend on light for photosynthesis, respond differently to different lighting methods. In the same way as with photoperiod varieties, we recommend using these light spectrums:

  • 6,500K Blue Light during the vegetative phase: Blue light spectrums encourage vegetative growth, helping cannabis plants grow compact and bushy while minimizing stretching.
  • 2,700K Red Light During Flowering: Red light spectrums are ideal for flowering because they promote bud formation and a slight stretch, encouraging the production of large, dense flowers.

EXTRA TIPS FOR CARS

If you are new to growing autoflowering, use these tips that will come in handy for your harvest:

  • Choose a seed that is productive: within all autoflowering there are certain differences, for example we recommend amnesia haze is a strain that achieves large yields.
  • Make your cultivation in a single pot: normally continuous transplants cause stress in marijuana plants, if we can avoid these harmful situations better.
  • Use an aerated growing medium: this helps stimulate root and foliage development.
