Marijuana and water quality, how does it influence?

It seems that these two concepts Marijuana and water quality are more related than it might seem. So much so, that our plants and their fruits will be much better depending on the water we use for irrigation.

But to begin, we are going to return to the school and to remember what is the function of the water in the process of growth and life of the plants (not only of marijuana, but of any type of flora).

Water for plants is so fundamental because without it, photosynthesis would not be possible. Plants take water and mineral salts from the soil through their roots. By means of photosynthesis, they transform these substances into their own food at the same time that they develop a fundamental work for the rest of the planet: they absorb carbon dioxide and expel oxygen to the atmosphere.

Importance of Ph in the relationship between marijuana and water quality

Undoubtedly, the first point to take into account in the relationship between marijuana and water quality is the Ph of the latter.

As we have already commented in some occasion, the PH of the water must be maintained around 6,5 that is the ideal intermediate point between the very acid water (Ph=0) and the alkaline water (Ph=14). To verify that this is the case, there are ph-metres. In addition, there are homemade tricks that can help us achieve these recommended values.

If the pH is too low, you can increase it by dissolving a handful of agricultural lime in the irrigation water. In this way, the plants irrigated with this water will absorb the nutrients much better.

If, on the other hand, we need to reduce the pH, experts recommend adding a few drops of white vinegar to the irrigation water, as a salad dressing.

Once we have the water with the desired pH, it will be good to rinse plants and soil with the mixture to accustom the soil to the new liquid.

Better waters for the irrigation of the marijuana

1.  “Faucet” water: It is not the most recommended, especially because depending on the area, it will contain more or less lime, but it will not kill your seedlings.
2. Distilled water: It is undoubtedly the one we recommend as it is the purest. We can use an osmosis filter to purify the faucet water and get the right values. Depending on the initial characteristics of the water to be distilled, the following filters will be used
3. Mineral water: Also one of our favorites. They tend to have a very weak mineralization and a pH between 6 and 6.5. Come on, perfect. Just a small detail; it is the most expensive option.
4. Surplus water from the air conditioners: this is an option, although not the most advisable one. It is a water without dissolved salts but that can contain traces of toxic materials that could be harmful to the plant.
5. Rainwater: if we are able to store it in optimum conditions and we have an ozonizer to purify it and eliminate the bacteria that may appear, we will have an almost inexhaustible source of irrigation and very cheap. However, we will also have to be very attentive to the Ph, as it usually ranges between 5 and 5.5. But that’s what the tricks we’ve mentioned before are for.
