Tony Montana: a tangerine and pineapple sativa made for SCROG

Tony Montana (German Fem Line) by Black Elephant Genetics brings together two lines that complement each other very well: California Orange, a Californian sativa famous for its orange and tangerine aroma, and Skunk, which adds stability, vigour and denser, more productive flowers. The result is a clearly sativa-dominant (75%) feminized strain, tall and slender, with flexible branches and fast growth, resinous flowers with orange pistils and a fruity tangerine and pineapple aroma.

Indoor cultivation

It is a medium to tall plant of 100-200 cm, with long internodes, slender leaves and a pronounced stretch in the first weeks of flowering. That is why it performs especially well in a SCROG: early topping and a net to guide the branches create a flat canopy that makes use of the whole light footprint. In a SOG, with many small plants and a short vegetative phase, it also gives very good results. It yields 500-650 g/m² after 9-10 weeks of flowering. For maximum results we recommend a high-quality airy substrate, regular pH control (6.0-6.5 in soil), medium to heavy feeding during flowering and an activated carbon filter to keep its citrus aroma in check.

Outdoor cultivation

Outdoors it shows all its sativa vigour and can yield 500-850 g per plant. It needs a roomy, very sunny spot sheltered from the wind, because its long, flexible branches load up with flowers in the final stretch; sturdy staking or a horizontal net helps support them. It is harvested in late September or early October and reaches its best yields in warm, Mediterranean-type climates.

Aroma and flavour

A very fruity, bright profile: freshly peeled tangerine dominates from the start, with sweet notes of orange peel and a lively citrus touch. Underneath comes pineapple, adding a juicy tropical nuance, and a light earthy base inherited from the Skunk that gives depth to the whole at the end of flowering.

How do I control its height indoors?
With early topping, LST and a SCROG net installed before the switch to flowering, when it stretches the most. Another option is a SOG: many small plants with a short vegetative phase.

Is it difficult to grow?
It has a medium difficulty level: it is not complicated, but its stretch calls for some training and its 9-10 weeks of flowering for some patience. In return it offers a very high yield.

How should I store them until sowing?
In a cool, dry and dark place, ideally in the fridge inside an airtight container. This preserves their germination power for a long time.
